I have many complaints about Bush's presidency but Obama's 'blaming Bush' excuses are getting old fast. It's been over a year and Obama can't open his mouth without blaming Bush before giving us his new set of transparent talking points. Is this what they meant by 'Hope and Change' ?

When 'No' is the winning theme

Democrats poll tested a phrase they used since early 2009 : "Republicans are the party of No". This Democrat strategy doesn't look as good now as it did a year ago when popular support of Obama's assumed policies were polling high. Republicans saying 'No' has now won Virginia, New Jersey and the liberal Ted Kennedy stronghold Massachusetts from Democats. But Obama and Democrats still act like the strategy is a winner. I still remember the Democrats acting as the party of 'No' to GWB and Republicans for the years they were in power and it paid off with their two major election wins. Now that they are in power, are Democrats just the party of 'Just Blame Bush'.

Can Democrats survive without Bush?

It's been over a year and Obama is still blaming Bush every day! Democrats are a one trick pony, and that trick is GW Bush. Bush's name helped democrats win the 2006 midterm election and then the 2008 election so it no surprise they would miss him. But how can they have the White House and huge majorities in congress for over a year and still have their main act blaming Bush for their failures? Are Democrats the Party of 'Just blame Bush' ?? After a humiliating Senate special election defeat Obama gave a state of the union address where he started out blaming Bush. Now to re-moralize democrats Obama went out on the road on his "Just Blame Bush tour" set of town hall meetings.

Obama's "Just Blame Bush" tour

Obama's "Just Blame Bush" tour has three main messages :
1) "We made everything better but you can't tell because it's Bush’s fault. We created millions of jobs even though you don't know anyone getting hired. Believe us on the economy instead of your lying eyes".
2)"Every deficit we run up will be Bushes fault". (Notice he never warns us he will later blame Bush for their failure and deficits while selling his reforms/programs)
3) "Republicans are the party of ‘No’ who blocked our great reforms and have nothing to offer " (Ironically Republicans are voting NO on the huge spending bills creating the deficits that Obama is blaming on Bush.)
4) "We have more handouts (er tax credits) for you that will ‘fix’ the economy we already fixed with the 900B $ stimulus" (Wink, wink) . Don't worry, we will blame this debt on Bush too."


Things may be getting worse, but they could be even worse than they are getting

Obama claims great accomplishments since being in office. Yet everything seems to be getting worse. Unemployment has skyrocketed along with the deficit after his massively expensive economic recovery plan. Gasoline prices have risen dramatically. Terrorists are getting on planes with weapons flying in US airspace again. We were promised that these things would be improved with Obama's policies but they don't seem to be. Instead we keep on hearing about how all these problems would be even worse than they are now without Obama, with all the current problems are because of Bush. Given this daily repeated (unverifiable ) excuse, how could we ever know if Democrats policies are improving things?


The Terrorists were Supposed to Love us

We were lectured for years that the Bush strategy of detaining Islamic terrorists and interrogating them for wartime intelligence was recruiting terrorists. This implies that the reason why there are terrorists is because we interrogate them. So Obama promises to close Guantanamo prison and give the terrorists lawyers and demonstrate to some of the worst blood thirsty killers our humanity. Yet on Christmas Eve a member of Al-Qaeda attempted a bombing attack on an passenger aircraft and was almost successful. When does the Obama love start working on these killers that hate us?


The Economic Recovery that never happened

This bill was nothing more than a huge liberal Christmas wish list: government jobs, expanded welfare, costly mandates on states, huge deficits (the bill costing 900B alone) while promising future taxes on small businesses. It was like they were planning a job killing bill while calling it a jobs bill. Later they told us about all these new jobs created or saved that never existed. Even the phony number of jobs created or saved (1/2 to 2 million) divided into the amount spent calculates to about 200-300K $ per 40 K$ job. Polls now show that most Americans think the money was wasted. They did use some of the money for road signs that ask you to thank Obama for the stimulus. (I think they actually said "The project was funded by the ...")

Was this all part of Obama's plan?

One question will linger forever. This question is : Did Obama and Democrats actually believe all this government spending, national debt and attacking businesses would create private sector jobs? (claimed by mentor progressive economist Paul Krugman.) Or did they really think they could keep the country in depression forever , and be the ones with the handouts with mandates, as our slave owners, and get away with blaming Bush for it forever? I call this the Roosevelt dream. The problem with a strategy like this is Roosevelt had complete control of the message, there was no Fox News Channel, talk radio or Internet to explain what Democrats are doing in the 1930s. I know liberals who told me a year ago they would blame Bush for eight years for a bad economy, and they old me they thought the voters would too. Yet some liberals seem perplexed that the economy hasn't recovered yet. The 'jobs' that never materialized remind me of liberals claiming they 'know' that Bush lied about WMDs. Did Bush really think America wouldn't care when there were no WMDs found as liberals claim. Did Obama lie when he told us the economic stimulus recovery bill would create jobs? Did Obama plan on voters blaming Bush for his depression forever?


Bush killed your Health Reform (the Government run Obama-care)

This claim about Bush from democrats amazes me most. After the Scott Brown MA Senate election win Obama spokesman came out and claimed the Brown victory (against Democrats and Obama care) was due to anger and frustration against Bush policies. Heck, who would have thought that Bush would be the one to save us from Obama-care when out of office and saying nothing on the subject? And now Obama wants a health reform summit to blame Republicans for his troubles and failure to pass a bill. This is of course another cynical political trick.


The Forever Bush Deficit

When Bush ran for office the deficit was small and he even criticized the current deficits. Once in office he found it politically expedient to run up deficits increasing spending greatly while cutting taxes (naturally, we all loved that right?) Then the housing bubble blew up leaving debt, recession and bailouts. There is plenty of blame to go around for this disaster but Bush got all the blame and Republicans lost another election.


Obama and Democrats saw this as an opportunity to run up national deficits and debts beyond anyone's comprehension and then blame them on Bush. The Obama/Pelosi 900B stimulus debt that got only three Republican votes is blamed on Bush by them. The Democrats recently rushed through a bill to increase the national Debt before new Republican Senator Scott Brown was seated. Yet Obama blames this new debt on Bush. Obama is asking congress for millions of dollars to try terrorists in civilian courts outside of military courts, contrary to Bush established procedures and ignoring a system created by congress, and he is blaming the debt required to pay for this on Bush too. In spite of his massive spending spree opposed by elected republicans just saying 'No', Obama is claiming he needs a bi-partition committee to make recommendations on the best way (middle class tax increases wink-wink) to fix the Bush deficits he inherited.

Summary :

Democrats ARE the Party of 'Just Blame Bush' ! What a bunch of losers. Hope and Change was a bunch of crap.

A week in the eyes of a Demoralized Liberal, to know it is all over

Waking up a Year Later with Everything turned Upside down.

You almost have to feel sorry for the liberals. A year ago Obama had a 60% approval rating, Democrats were trusted more than Republicans on almost all issues and they had a huge democrat majority in congress. Yet now they must wake up each morning knowing it's all been lost, and wondering how it happened. To most liberals it all went bad this past week. They were sure that Martha Coakley would pull it out in the Massachusetts Senate race over Scott Brown. They were sure that some sort of health reform plan would pass shortly after that. But Tuesday night their hopes that elected democrats led by Obama would pull through were crushed. And frustrated liberals/progressives blame the Democrat leadership including Obama for swinging to the right contrary to most voters opinion.


Ted Kennedy's Dream becomes liberal's (and Obama's) worst Nightmare

Tuesday night, the day before the one year anniversary of Obama being sworn in as president, Democrats lost the Ted Kennedy Massachusetts senate seat in a special election. This was after president Obama flew up the Sunday before election day to campaign for her. And the main issue that Republican Scott Brown ran on was stopping Obama-care(as well as other Obama initiatives), something Obama never mentioned in his speech. This was the big story all over the country even before the election. Elected Democrats all over the country were asked by the media (that biased MSM) : "What went wrong?". The day after the Massachusetts election loss, President Obama gave a press conference where he explained that the problem was that he had not spent enough time 'educating' the American people on why they were wrong about their (Democrat's) accomplishments.

Government takeover of Health care : The end of a Dream

The election loss came at a time when the White House was trying to broker a deal between the House and Senate; each of which passed completely different health reform bills. In reality this was a near impossible job even with the 60 vote majority in the Senate. But to the liberal masses and most others(except me), passage of a health reform bill was inevitable. After all, Obama , Pelosi and Reid told us over and over it was going to happen. But the election loss changed all that. Not only did Senate democrats loose their 60 seat filibuster majority, but now scores of democrats in congress were terrified of losing their seats in the coming 2010 midterm elections. The Obama-democratic dream of creating a new entitlement died Tuesday night. To democrats and many others, the MA election ended it all.


In spite of the death of the dream, House liberals, who played a large part in the health reform passage failure by demanding a government funded public option; are still talking about passing the House bill in the Senate (51 votes) using Senate budget reconciliation rules. This is something they talked about since July 2009 and it never was possible because Budget Reconciliation applies only to changing existing funding levels or existing taxes of provisions in a passed bill, not adding regulations or new programs. Basically, they can't admit 'The Dream' is over. (I call this 'The prayer for the Dead'.)

One group you could pity is those Democrats in congress who voted for a bill because they were promised over and over that the 'final' health reform bill would fix any problems in either of the two passed bills. They wasted ten months and had to stomach other states getting embarrassing bribes their states didn't, defended secret closed door meetings, unpopular mandates, tea party protests, angry town hall meetings and voters at home; and then after finally passing two bills with passage seeming so close to many, they watched it die in front of their eyes. Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson and his wife were chased out of a local pizza restaurant by Nebraska voters over anger for his support.

Losing a lone liberal Voice too?

One would think that this was enough for democrats to have to face in a single week. But the same (this past) week Air America closed up shop being out of money and funding. Their gravy train was G.W. Bush and he was out of office a year leaving little enthusiasm for Obama cheerleader.

Government versus Free Speech : A win for Free Speech terrifies liberals

Something else happened this week that got the liberals in a tizzy. The Supreme Court ruled in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission that corporations and unions running ads against elected politicians and candidates was constitutionally protected speech. While this was seen as a free speech victory by republicans, liberals saw this decision as the end of the country. On MSNBC, liberal talk radio (still a few stations out there) and libs blogs it was reported over and over that those rich evil corporations that Obama has been bravely fighting would take complete control of our elected officials (like the movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers) and that our democracy has ended. Apparently we are all mindless drones that believe anything we see in a commercial. What these left wing talkers neglected to tell their audiences was these unconstitutional federal regulations were regulating OUR speech against politicians, as well as businesses and unions. But what is really killing democrats about this decision is that their whole populist theme blaming businesses for the countries problems, and threatening taxes and takeovers, companies can now run ads against them in the November elections. These are the same elections that they were expected a backlash against elected Democrats.


Imagine the pain that Liberals must feel now

Yes, a year ago Democrats thought they would re-invent the country, and exactly a year later they woke up in hell with it all slipping out of their fingers. Today, pat a liberal on the back and say : "Better luck next time". And then have a good laugh. Because it is just going to get much worse for them.

Can Progressive-Liberals admit that Obama lied to them? (to Joe Wilson too?)

Liberals Dream : the skilled liberal Politician that 'everyone' believes outwitting Republicans

When Obama promised us that there would be no middle class tax increases the progressive-liberals thought: "This is great. Our Obama can get the voters to believe anything". When Obama said that Abortion and Illegals would not be covered under 'Obama-HealthCare-Reform', Libs thought: "Finally we have a progressive leader that will sign into law what we want while convincing the stupid voters that Democrats are passing what they want". Even now Obama is claiming the Obama-care will reduce the deficit based on phony use of CBO numbers.
When Joe Wilson called Obama a liar during a Presidential address, Libs said: "Republicans will get crucified for challenging our great loved trusted leader".

But he’s not supposed to lie to his own liberal base, just to us

But what happens when Obama tries to use those famous magical deceptive skills AGAINST his own liberal base for pure political reasons? With the Senate's Health Reform bill barely passed by 60 votes and Obama needing any bill to pass he tells the Washington Post that he never campaigned for the public option.

I know most of you avoid MSNBC's program Countdown, but on Wednesday 12/23/2009 left wing Lawrence O'Donnell guest hosting aired a great documentary of all the times Obama promised liberals a public health care option. Most of these promises were speeches in front of liberal groups which is very galling for them considering his betrayal. The program started with that clip where Obama told a reporter just this week he never ever campaigned for a public option. Progressives were very coldly thrown under the bus by Obama. Obama strung his base along for Political reasons

O'Donnell and his guests speculated that Obama, Reid and Pelosi knew all along that the public option couldn't pass the Senate but they needed to keep liberals on board to get their votes in the end compromise,which hasn't come yet. O'Donnell (like myself) had soberly predicted all along , meaning through the summer, that the house liberal's dream of budget reconciliation needing only 50 votes in the Senate was nothing but an empty threat to keep the liberals support. So given such evidence displayed on liberal shows and blogs that Obama's repeated promises to progressive liberals were insincere; and that he used the promises for pure political purposes; can they finally admit that Obama lied to them? Can they admit that Obama is a liar? Can they admit Joe Wilson was right?

This Obama-Care Reform Bill Can still be killed

It is not too late to kill this Health Reform bill at Conference. As I have said repeatedly: it’s not the Republicans that have the power, it’s the liberal ‘single payer-public plan-pro-abortion’ progressives (liberals) that do. If you have been following my posts they are hopping mad about being sold out by Obama and the Democrat leadership (and we know how that feels with Republicans.) The bill just about to be passed in the Senate dropped both the public plan and Medicare expansion and has some restrictions on publicly paid abortions opposed by the pro-choice/abortion group. It was passed by bribing certain Senators like Nelson in certain states at the expense of all the others. What should be galling to liberals is that the Senators that got the goodies are the moderate holdouts who made the bill toxic to them.

What opponents of the bill need to do is to contact house members in Democrat states and communicate their outrage, not only at the sellout but at the bribes given to a few moderate states. Ironically, it’s the liberal states that got screwed the most because they not only lost their key socialist demands, but they didn’t get the goodies moderate holdouts got. Now I am not suggesting that we call liberal house members ourselves and pose as democrats (wink,wink). That would be very wrong (wink, wink.) But if someone was to call the Democrat house members (listed at these liberal firedoglake.com links Call Congress: Take the Pledge for the Public Option and Sorry, Can’t Pass Health Care Bill Without A Public Option), the following are things to say if you are a liberal or posing as one for fun (I am not suggesting we do this):

1) This is just a payoff to the health insurance companies who now get taxpayer money and millions of forced customers with no competition. You sold us into slavery to the Health Insurance companies. This is just like TARP!
2) Where is the public plan competition that keeps health insurance companies honest? How much did the insurance companies pay you? Now Obama denies he ever promised a public option when he ran on it in the primary and those videos are being shown on MSNBC.
3) Our state gets ripped off. Senators Nelson (Nebraska) and Landrieu (Louisiana Purchase #2) got huge payoffs for their states. What goodies (for us) did you hold out for? You sold us out for pennies.
4) Why are you taxing my health insurance plan? Obama promised NO middle class tax cuts.
5)This Bill takes away a woman’s right to choose (to have others pay for my abortion.)
6)If I wanted to be sold out to corporations I would have voted for McCain.
7) We will not come out to vote for you in 2010 unless you do us right.


Don't forget to mention that Harry Reid said on camera that any Democrat Senator that didnt hold out for special goodies is a not a good representative.

One of their biggest supporters MSNBC (The Ed Show) Ed Schulz got in a debate with Obama's senior advisor David Axolrod on 'The Morning Joe' show today over the Senate Health Reform bill. On The Ed Show Clinton's Lanny Davis got called a Health insurance company stooge by Firedoglake's Jane Hamsher (Video here) for suggesting that the current Senate bill is better than nothing. Here's a sample of what he got from her:“which drug companies and health corporations are you speaking for when you tout this bill?” “Who’s paying you to be here?”

I am concerned for America folks. Has the Democrat Party become the party of NO to themselves?? Do Democrats want our President to fail? Didnt they tell us that's the same as wanting America to fail? Has MSNBC just become another wing of the evil forces attacking our president to keep him from fixing America's problems? Where is this country headed with all this hate?

Support Progressives Defeating Obama-care

Senate Deal ?? This is getting dangerously close. The House passed something, now the Democrat Senate leadership and Obama says they have abandoned both a public option and an expansion of medicare. Our problem is NOT RINOs, nor DINOs (Democrats in Name only) nor Republicans, it is those liberal progressives that can make this Obama-care reform pass. The Senate is close to a 2008 victory (not the final victory fortunately.) But it's not too late to have a Democrat meltdown.


Challenge to Progressives : Look! You gave in on single payer, you gave in on abortion (in the House anyway). Now you are giving in on the Public Plan and Medicare expansion ?? Is this what you elected Obama for?? Karl Marx is turning over in his grave. And I am tired of this focus on Leiberman. Your 'chosen one' Obama betrayed you. He so wants a legislative success so bad that he is willing to stab in the back millions of democrat supporters that campaigned for free health care(er Obama.). Corporations have money, banks have money, those evil Republicans have money, take it and give us free health care ! Our stimulus plan worked. We killed millions of jobs as planned and now all the unemployed need free health care. You have no excuses. Stop everything in the Senate and have the House write a Budget Reconciliation bill that requires only 51 votes in the Senate(50 plus VP Biden.). Do it right, not now! We can wait another 6-8 months. Really! We can pass it next October just in time for the election.


To Conservatives : I am getting worried. Some progressives are saying they need to pass anything now and fix it later. They still have a uphill climb, but this was Obama and Reid's plan all along to sell out liberals if need be. The next step (assuming the Senate is successful) is for Pelosi to put the knife in the backs of progressives at conference. It's up to us to encourage our socialist friends to draw the line in the sand for the public plan. We also need to call moderate Dems and tell them to draw the line in the sand, against public plan. Support both sides !
